Kristo Kurtén joins Vuono Group
Kristo has a strong software architect and engineering background and broad experience in the IT industry since the late 90’s. In the past years, he has been focusing on designing and building event-driven systems that run in the cloud.
After seeing the software engineering evolution from early and relatively simple web pages to business-critical, complex distributed systems, Kristo is always looking for new ways to develop professionally:
“I enjoy learning new, relevant technologies that have a major impact on software development and architectures. Good examples from recent years have been private and public clouds and streaming systems, especially Kafka,” Kristo says.
Kristo enjoys designing and building new systems from the ground up. He says he has been very fortunate to have had long, interesting customer relationships where this has been possible.
“It is important to understand that building a robust system is not just about tech. Understanding how failure scenarios can affect business processes and how those can be mitigated is critical,” Kristo adds.
His speciality lies in building scalable and reliable systems. With great attention to detail, Kristo considers various failure conditions and devises strategies for recovery. In the realm of distributed, streaming systems, Kristo emphasises the importance of self-healing capabilities, understanding that manual interventions are often impractical.
“As a consultant, Kristo is known for addressing crucial issues. His ability to identify and solve problems, both technical and business-related, at an early stage has proven pivotal to the success of numerous projects. This proactive approach underscores his commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and ensuring client satisfaction,” says Teemu Moisala, Founder at Vuono Group.
On a personal note, Kristo’s diverse set of hobbies includes sports, PC gaming, and travelling. These interests bring a rich and varied perspective to his work.
